The new City Cabins™ at Columbia Station and Indian Wall are gearing up to take advantage of all the new green building advancements in the last several years. The high-performance City Cabins are individually designed for each site; they will all share certain characteristics. The common goals of all the homes are inclusive “housing for all ages,” increased energy & water efficiencies, healthy indoor environments, and lower the cost of ownership.
The homes use only a fraction of the energy that a typical code built new home users. Energy consumption is considered in every facet of the construction process and the completed product.
These homes require almost zero heat because of the quadruple paned windows and the ultra-thick insulation. A 50% water savings is completely achievable, because we install rain water harvesting for irrigation, Energy Star appliances and low flow fixtures inside. Storm water runoff is reduced or eliminated, helping to clean up Puget Sound. Local natural materials are used as well as materials with a high recycled content. Our job site recycling rate is 90+%.
